No matter how often you use your laundry room, there is one fixture that you should have in there which will certainly get some use, and that is the sink. From cleaning your cats and dogs after a muddy encounter, washing mud from boots or even pre-washing clothes, laundry sinks stand front and center in this space. There are a number of options when it comes to choosing which type of sink you need, and that is what we are going to be looking into today.
The decision as to which sink will work best will come down to the space you have and how much you want to spend, and here is what you will have to choose from.
Freestanding or Floor Mounted Sink
The most basic and affordable sink which you will be able to find is a floor-mounted or freestanding sink. These have their own legs and can come as double or single sinks. Despite what you may think, the depth of the basin on these sinks can be large, as much as 24cm in some cases. The benefits of this type of sink are that they are low cost, easy to install and very flexible. Downsides however are that they aren’t always robust and they have a short lifespan.
Wall-Mounted Sinks
Wall-mounted sinks are directly attached to the wall studs behind the drywall of the laundry room and again can be found as either single or double sinks. These are certainly the best sink choice if you have a laundry which has limited space. Wall mounted sinks provide you with a lot of space below the sink itself, which can then be used for storage. This can look a bit unsightly but if it is the function that you are looking for then this will prove to be the best option.
Cabinet-Mounted Sink
This sink option also provides space below the sink, yet features a door so that you won’t have to have all of your products on display, this offers a far finer quality finish. Additionally the plumbing below the sink will be hidden by the cabinet, and the sink will fit tightly on top. There are some negatives to this type of choice however, namely the size of the sink which you can choose from. This will be limited regarding capacity, and even a freestanding sink may offer more.
Drop-In Laundry Sinks
If you have the space to play with then drop-in laundry sinks are likely to be the best option for you. Much like in the kitchen these sinks drop into the existing countertop which leaves a seamless design to the space. With these kinds of sinks you will be able to go big and bold, adding a double or single sink which is deep and wide. For those looking for beauty and function, and who have the space to play with, this is the best option.
No matter whether you are looking for single or double sinks, there is much to choose from when decking out your laundry.
